Thermodynamics, modernized.
The first cloud-native process simulator built for the age of AI agents. HYSYS-class engineering at a fraction of the cost — accessible from your browser, your terminal, or your AI assistant.
You shouldn't need a $30,000 license to run a flash calculation.
Annual licenses lock out small teams
The incumbents charge $30,000 to $100,000 a year. That math doesn't work for freelancers, two-person shops, or small consulting firms — even though they need the same engineering rigor.
Desktop-only software in a cloud world
Windows-only installs. Visio-based UIs. No API. No mobile. Built before SaaS, before cloud, before anything modern engineers expect from their tools.
AI agents can't access them
In an era where Claude, Cursor, and ChatGPT can drive real engineering work, legacy simulators have no way to plug in. Agentic workflows are simply impossible.
A simulator that meets you where you work.
Three ways in. One engineering engine underneath.
Web UI
Drag-and-drop flowsheets in your browser. No installs. No license servers. No Visio.
MCP Server
Connect the AI agent you already use — Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, ChatGPT — and let it drive real engineering calculations through Caldera's tools.
REST API
Embed thermodynamic calculations into your own apps and workflows. Same engine, different surface.
Bring your own AI. Caldera does the engineering.
Caldera doesn't bundle AI. The agent you already trust connects directly to Caldera's tools. Snap a photo of a P&ID, paste it into Claude, and watch a working flowsheet appear in Caldera. We provide the cleanest MCP server in the process engineering space — and the recipes to make it sing.
Built on a solid foundation.
Caldera is built on the open-source ChEDL libraries — battle-tested thermodynamic models including Peng-Robinson, SRK, NRTL, UNIFAC, and CoolProp's Helmholtz-energy reference equations. Validated against GPSA Engineering Data Book methods and real plant data.
About
Caldera is being built by Steven Barrow, P.E. — a licensed Professional Engineer with deep process safety expertise across upstream and midstream operations. Caldera is a product of Patronus Energy LLC.
